2nd ILDS World Skin Summit, 10-12 June 2018
In 2018 we welcomed you to join us in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, for the 2nd ILDS World Skin Summit. The Summit was a special and unique global event that involved the leaders of ILDS Member Societies. The goal was to work together towards a vision of attaining the best possible skin health for all people around the world. The Summit provided an educational forum for sharing and discussion, enabling leaders in dermatology to consider and develop strategies to improve skin health at local, national, regional and global levels.
Through an interactive programme with plenary and workshop sessions and social activities delegates:
- Identified challenges and developed skills and knowledge to tackle challenges in their country and/or disease area
- Met fellow dermatology leaders, shared experiences and strengthened networks
- Developed common strategies to improve global skin health
- Learnt about ILDS strategies, projects and collaborations and opportunities for engagement
The Summit programme focused on key issues and strategies relevant to the ILDS’ Member Societies. During the Summit we also addressed dermatological issues that affect the South-East Asian region as well as other under-served regions. The Programme Committee actively consulted Member Societies and regional representatives to develop the final programme.
In addition to considering current important specific dermatological conditions, we explored the evolving role of dermatologists and the scope of service delivery for skin disorders by other health professionals and providers. The Summit also addressed priority issues of the International Foundation for Dermatology (www.ifd.org), the humanitarian arm of the ILDS, such as rare or neglected diseases and under–served patients in resource-poor settings.
