Announcing the winners for 2023 ILDS Young Dermatologists International Achievement Awards

We are delighted to announce the recipients of the 2023 Young Dermatologist International Achievement Awards.
The YDIA Awards aims to recognise recently qualified dermatologists who have made an outstanding contribution to international dermatology, particularly for patients in under-served areas of the world.
Recipients of the 2023 YDIA Awards received free registration and a bursary towards travel and accommodation to attend the World Congress of Dermatology 2023 in Singapore. Their certificates were presented during the Emeritus Council reception, where all esteemed past and present ILDS Board Members were in attendance.

Biography
Dr Kassahun Bilcha
Dr. Kassahun Bilcha is a dermatologist currently with private practice in Virginia, USA. He is a native of Ethiopia who attended medical school at University of Gondar and dermatology residency at Addis Ababa University. He immigrated to the United States in 2016 after serving his native country for more than seven years. He then completed internship and another dermatology residency at Emory University, Atlanta, Georgia in July 2021. He was awarded a Fulbright Research Fellow at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. in 2012. His research interests include global health and medical education and has multiple publications in these topics.

Biography
Dr Dinesh Kumar Deveraj
Dr D Dinesh Kumar MD, FRCP is currently the Secretary General of Indian Association of Dermatologists, Leprologists & Venereologists, and the Secretary of International Society of Teledermatology. He has served as the Secretary General of the Association of Cutaneous Surgeons(India) and the Indian Society of Teledermatology. Dr D Dinesh Kumar was recognised and appreciated for coordinating the IADVL flagship National level awareness programme known as ‘Skin Safar Rath’ which created awareness amongst Indians including the rural population about skin diseases, their treatment, accessibility to treatment centres, dispelling associated myths & doubts. This awareness programme covered a journey of more than 7500 miles all across India, covering 55 cities, towns & villages with nearly 200 stopovers over a period of 60 days. Being young, dynamic, amiable with considerable experience in administration, handling people and importantly with a zeal to reach out to the unreached, underprivileged population, he is an inspiration to the younger generation of dermatologists.

Biography
Dr Satoshi Nakamizo
Program-Specific Junior Associate Professor in Alliance Laboratory for Advanced Medical Research at Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine, Japan.
He graduated from Saga Medical University in 2007 and completed his PhD at Kyoto University School of Medicine, before studying at the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore. He specialises in skin immunology and is an expert in single-cell RNA sequencing of skin cells.

Sebastiano Recalcati, MD
Sebastiano Recalcati, MD, is a Clinical Doctor of the Division of Dermatology at Manzoni Hospital of Lecco, Italy. He has training and experience in infectious diseases, cutaneous oncology and immunopathology, and dermatologic surgery. In his research activity he has dealt with the first studies on the relationship between Covid-19 and skin, making a contribution in the management of the pandemic.
