Announcing the winners of the ILDS 2025 Young Dermatologists International Achievement Awards

Following an unprecedented response to our call for nominations by our valued ILDS Members, we are delighted to share the details of the inspiring recipients who have been awarded the ILDS 2025 Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award.
These biennial awards aim to recognise recently qualified dermatologists who have made an outstanding contribution to international dermatology, particularly for patients in under-served areas of the world. Only one recipient is selected from each of the six ILDS regions and the calibre of all nominees this year was outstanding.
The 2025 recipients will attend the 4th ILDS World Skin Summit in Cape Town, South Africa, in October 2025 to receive their Award, and have the opportunity to learn, share and network with global dermatology leaders.
The ILDS congratulate all nominees for their impactful contributions to global dermatology and thank them for their continued efforts to improve skin health for all.

Biography
Dr Olufolakemi Cole-Adeife
Recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologists International Achievement Award 2025 - Africa region.
"It is the greatest honour and a powerful validation of my efforts as a global health dermatologist".
Dr Olufolakemi Cole-Adeife is a consultant physician and dermatovenereologist at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital and an associate lecturer at the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Lagos, Nigeria. As a clinical researcher, she focuses on various areas of dermatology, including albinism, skin biophysical parameters in darker skin, skin-lightening practices, acne vulgaris, atopic dermatitis, seborrhoeic dermatitis, psoriasis, skin NTDs, and mpox. Dr Cole-Adeife is also a passionate skin health advocate educating the public via the media on good skin health practices.

Biography
Esther E. Freeman, MD PhD
Recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award 2025 - North America (excluding Mexico and the Caribbean) region.
"I’m honoured to receive this award, which reflects our team’s shared commitment to advancing global skin health. This recognition brings vital attention to improving access to care worldwide, especially in underserved regions where support is urgently needed."
Dr. Freeman is Director of Global Health Dermatology at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School and Director of Clinical Innovation & Education at the Center for Global Health. As founding chair of GLODERM, she developed an international mentorship program for dermatology leaders in under-resourced areas and currently is Vice Chair of the International Foundation for Dermatology. Her research focuses on access to care in underserved populations. An author of over 100 scientific papers, her work has been featured in the New England Journal of Medicine and The New York Times.

Biography
Bryan Edgar Ko Guevara, MD, FPDS, FDSP
Recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award 2025 - East Asia, South East Asia and Oceania region.
"This Award gives me a sense of accomplishment and motivation to do further for our community".
Dr. Bryan Ko Guevara is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist of the Southern Philippines Medical Center and Southeast Dermatology. He was the editor-in-chief of the Journal of the Philippine Dermatological Society, and is currently an associate editor of the Australasian Journal of Dermatology. He is currently chair of both research committee and the in-service training examination (ISTE) committee of the Philippine Dermatological Society (PDS). He is also current fellow of the International Psoriasis Council.

Jonathan Ho MBBS, D.Sc
Recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award 2025 - Latin America (including Mexico and the Caribbean).
"I am deeply honoured to have been chosen for this award. I am proud to represent the Caribbean".
Dr. Jonathan Ho is a Lecturer in Dermatology/Dermatopathology at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus, Jamaica. He received his MBBS from UWI and completed his dermatology and dermatopathology training in the International Graduate Training Program at Boston University/Boston Medical Center. He is Co-Director of the dermatology residency program at UWI. His clinical interests include in-patient and complex medical dermatology and wounds. He is the outgoing president of the Dermatology Association of Jamaica and Deputy Editor-in-Chief (dermatopathology) for PathologyOutlines.

Biography
Dr Niraj Parajuli, MD
Recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award 2025 - West, South and Central Asia.
"I am humbled to receive this award. I do appreciate my works being recognised which will inspire me".
Dr Parajuli is a senior consultant dermatologist working at National Academy of Medical Sciences, Bir Hospital, Kathmandu, Nepal. He is the current Vice-Chair of the NTD NGO Network Skin Cross Cutting Group. He is also the Steering Committee member of International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology (GLODERM) and one of the MENTOR for the Class 2024-2025. Furthermore, Dr Parajuli is the General Secretary for Society of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists of Nepal (SODVELON). His particular interests include the skin-related neglected tropical diseases, rare skin diseases and digital dermatology.

Biography
Dr Zenas Yiu
Recipient of the ILDS Young Dermatologist International Achievement Award 2025 - Europe.
"I am honoured to receive this award and to be able to represent the BAD at the World Summit in 2025"
Dr Zenas Yiu is an MRC Clinician Scientist in Dermatology and Pharmacoepidemiology and Honorary Consultant Dermatologist at the University of Manchester, UK. Dr Yiu holds a master’s degree in Epidemiology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a doctorate degree which was supported by a NIHR Doctoral Research Fellowship. He has research interests in psoriasis and hidradenitis suppurativa. Dr Yiu is a steering committee member for the European Dermato-Epidemiology Network and leads the GUIDEMAP initiative to map and appraise global dermatology clinical practice guidelines.
