I am very honoured to have been elected an International Director of the Board of the International League of Dermatological Societies (ILDS) at the World Congress of Dermatology in Milan in 2019.
Find out more about the ILDS Board of Directors"I look forward to joining my esteemed colleagues in furthering the international impact of Dermatology over my 8-year tenure on the ILDS Board. I live and work in Sydney, Australia, where I am a Dermatologist at the Royal North Shore Hospital of Sydney, in private practice, and chair of the Skin Hospital. I am also a clinical academic at the University of Sydney. My previous roles as President and Treasurer of the Australasian College of Dermatologists (ACD), and chair of a number of national committees in Australia, have given me a background in clinical Dermatology, administration and finance to hopefully add value to the function and expansion of the role of the ILDS, and the International Foundation for Dermatology (IFD), in world dermatology. Over my 35 year career in Dermatology, I have been heartened by the work of our colleagues, past and present, on the Board of the ILDS. This includes the activities of the IFD, which has been instrumental in bringing dermatology care to the parts of the world where access has been traditionally limited. I have visited the Regional Dermatology Training Centre (RDTC) in Moshi to see the great work that is done there and I look forward to returning there regularly over the next 8 years to see this important work continue. I have been appointed a member of the Executive Committee and also as Vice-Chair of the IFD and the Finance Committee. These positions will hopefully enable me to have a positive impact in the running of the ILDS and the roll-out of its many programmes. I have a particular interest in South-East Asia and the Pacific and see these roles with the ILDS and the IFD as a way of helping Dermatology expand in these regions. As an International Director of the ILDS, I however remain open to all Dermatologists around the world to discuss issues of relevance to Dermatology in their particular situation at any time. I am on the Board to help make International Dermatology important to all."
