Standing Voice in collaboration with the International Foundation of Dermatology (IFD) developed this Manual of Best Practice. The project was funded by Novartis and the Pierre Fabre Foundation through the ILDS and IFD. This Manual is an internationally recognised resource enabling clinicians to deliver effective quality care to patients with albinism across the African continent and beyond, targeting consultant dermatologists, surgeons, dermatology officers, clinical officers and nurses. The manual aims to consolidate current learning and drive improvements in clinical practice for professionals working to promote the dermatological health of people with albinism.

The Manual was launched at the 24th World Congress of Dermatology in Milan, Italy, by ILDS/IFD and Standing Voice. Harry Freeland, Executive Director/Founder, at Standing Voice, said: “The Manual of Best Practice is the first of its kind and Standing Voice is proud to have produced this vital resource alongside our partners. It will be a life-saving weapon in our fight against the skin cancer crisis facing people with albinism across Africa.”

ILDS President, Harvey Lui added, “The lives of people with albinism are complicated by severe emotional, social, economic, and political challenges in addition to medical issues. It takes a global community to provide care, compassion, and protection for people with albinism. With the financial assistance of Novartis and the Pierre Fabre Foundation, the International League of Dermatological Societies is pleased to sponsor the development of this first-ever comprehensive practical guide to preventing and managing skin cancer within sub-Saharan Africa. We salute the leadership of Standing Voice and its partners in improving the lives of people afflicted by albinism.”.
