WCD 2023: Letter from Rio de Janeiro
15 October 2018
As we approach the 24th World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) in Milan next year we are already preparing for WCD 2023. Each of the 6 Candidate Cities has written a Letter to ILDS Members, all of which will be shared here.
Below you will find a Letter from Prof Marcia Ramos-e-Silva, President, Bidding Committee for Rio de Janeiro.
Dear ILDS Members,
The Brazilian Society of Dermatology is proud to announce Rio de Janeiro, the heart of Latin America, as a candidate city to host the WCD-2023.
AN OVERVIEW OF THE DERMATOLOGY IN BRAZIL:
- Brazil is a world reference in Dermatology, with over 8,500 members in the Brazilian Society of Dermatology and many studies in the area of infectious and tropical diseases, as well as in Cosmetic Dermatology;
- Brazil has never hosted a World Congress of Dermatology.
Enticed by the natural beauty and the tropical charm of Rio de Janeiro, the world sees here the magic of the seamless harmony between the exuberant nature, its beaches and mountains, contemporary architecture and liveliness.
3 REASONS TO CHOOSE RIO DE JANEIRO:
- TOP LEVEL HOSPITALITY INFRASTRUCTURE
Brazilians are uniquely welcoming and if you add it to Rio’s significant hospitality potential the full circle is completed. With over 221 thousand hotel beds, the city is prepared to welcome tourists from anywhere in the world.
- TOURISM FOR EVERYONE
Leisure and tourism options for all tastes. About 33% of all tourists arriving in Rio come from abroad looking for adventure, business, sport and environmental tourism. With its cosmopolitan and innovative atmosphere, the “Wonderful City” keeps its light and soft beachfront atmosphere.
- CONGRESSES OF ALL SIZES
Over 700 large official events are anticipated in Rio de Janeiro in 2018. There are already more than 300 corporate events confirmed until 2027! Sought for tourism, the wonderful city drives 52 sectors.
We are waiting for WCD-2023 participants with open arms!
