The ILDS, as part of its work in global dermatology, aims to recognise dermatologists and others in the field of dermatological care who have made an outstanding contribution to improving the experience for people with skin diseases.
The Young Dermatologist International Achievement (YDIA) Award is awarded biennially (from 2025), to coincide with the World Congress of Dermatology (WCD) and the World Skin Summit (WSS), and aims to recognise recently qualified dermatologists who have made an outstanding contribution to international dermatology, particularly for patients in under-served areas of the world.
Recipients of the YDIA Award receive a certificate, a bursary towards travel and accommodation and free registration to attend the event.
In the year of a WCD, the recipients are invited as guests to the opening ceremony and the awards are presented during the Emeritus Council reception, where all esteemed past and present ILDS Board Members in attendance.
In the year of a WSS, the recipients received their awards during the main conference session.
The YDIA Award is presented to one individual from each of the 6 ILDS Regions:
Eligible ILDS Member organisations* can nominate one person from their society for this Award and the nominees must meet the following eligibility criteria:
